What sets California family law apart from family law in counterpart states?  While family and divorce law is in many ways the same across the board, California has its own set of nuances that make California divorce law slightly different.  For example, consider the instance of same sex relationships, domestic partnerships and marriages.  California is largely unique in this regard.  Premarital agreements and domestic violence laws may also vary slightly with CA family law. Contrary to popular opinion (probably driven through celebrity scandals and the tabloids that cover them) California’s divorce rate is not especially high compared to other states.
